If you’ve ever listened to our podcast, you know we’ve got a penchant for booze. Loose lips sink ships, after all. And our lips couldn’t get any looser without a little help from our friends — and our show wouldn’t be much of show, at that.
One of our besties is a little apéritif that goes by the name of Slush on the Beach.
Before the snow starts to fly, we recommend whipping up a batch (and listening to one of our most recent episodes, of course). Here’s what you’ll need:
- 9 cups of water
- 1-½ cups of sugar
- 2 12-ounce containers of Pineapple Orange frozen concentrate
- 1 cup of vodka (cheap…it’s not like you’ll really taste it)
- 1-½ cups of coconut flavored rum
- Lemon-lime soda (we go with diet…it’s all about the waistline for us)
Dissolve sugar in the water. We just stir it ‘til it’s gone. Then, empty the frozen concentrate into the sugar water and mix until blended. Pour in the booze, mix, and transfer to a freezer-safe container, like an old ice cream bucket.
Put in the freezer, and stir every few hours. You don’t want all the booze to end up settling at the bottom. What’s the fun in that, right?
We should also tell you it can take upwards of 24 hours to freeze, so plan accordingly.
To serve, scoop slush into a tall glass and cut with lemon-lime soda. Oh, and you may want to drop a stir stick in for good measure. You want it slushy, not chunky.
